Recommendations for Recycling at Mass Participant Sporting EventsEco-Logistics, in collaboration with AFMInc, has developed a set of specific guidelines for recycling at mass sporting events. This document provides a toolkit for any event organizer who wants to minimize waste and maximize recycling and composting of waste materials at their event.
The guidelines were initially based on the experiences of AFMInc and Eco-Logistics at six pilot events that they attended in the fall of 2008, and have been revised and updated for 2010. It combines their first-hand look with input from race directors to describe the opportunities and challenges running events of all sizes face as they develop programs for recycling not only AFMInc's Heatsheets low-density polyethylene plastic blanket, but also other recyclable or compostable materials consumed during an event.
We invite you to download the General Guidelines for Recycling at Mass Participant Sporting Events PDF file and use it to plan the recycling efforts at your next event.
